Our Mission :

The mission of Eupora First Untied Methodist Church is that through the corporate worship of God and the renewal of our faith, we will nurture a way of life founded upon the teachings of Jesus Christ so that we can serve the spiritual, educational, and social needs of our memebers, of the local community and the other people beyond.

Who We Are:

Methodist received their name from eighteenth-century England for being so "methodical"  in their life and ministry. Our roots go back to John Wesley. When the participants of the "Holy Club" left their meeting, observers would call out, "There go those Methodist," because they were so methodical, they had certain ways of doing things.

John Wesley, the founder of Methodism ordained Francis Asbury as the first Methodist Bishop in America. Tobias Gibson was the first Methodist preacher in Mississippi. He came from South Carolina in 1799.

Methodist have been part of the Eupora Community since 1873. Originally, we were part of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1939, we united with the northern Methodist to become the Methodist Church. In 1968, we merged with the Evangelical United Brethren Church to become the United Methodist Church.

Our local roots go back to the Bellefontanie Mission in 1873. We continued on in 1875 with the Early Grove Methodist Church. Our history moved to the Walthall Circuit in 1880 and in 1892 to the Eupora Charge that met in a frame building on the present lot of the post office. In 1910 a brick church was built on the present lot of the post office. And in 1940, a brick church was built at our present location on 203 East Fox Avenue
