Chapel Service - 2 p.m.-Eupora Jail Cottage Prayer Meetings, in advance of our revival on November 7-9, will begin Wednesday night, October 20th at 7:00 p.m. They will be meeting in three different locations, on the same night and will meet for three consecutive Wednesday nights prior to our revival. The book that we will study together, as well as pray together, will be Dimensions of Prayer, by Douglas V. Steere. These meetings will last approximately 45 minutes. Our revival preacher will be the Reverend Cecil Williamson of Starkville. He is a native of Mississippi. He served churches for three years in Georgia and eighteen years in Mississippi. Cecil has been an approved evangelist in the U.M.C. for twenty-eight years. He is a past president and executive evangelist of the National Association of United Methodist Evangelists (NAUME). Cecil attended Mississippi State University, intent upon a career in engineering. While a freshman at State, Cecil was called by God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. At that time, he transferred to Millsaps College in Jackson, where he received his A.B. degree and then to Candler School of Theology at Emory, University in Atlanta, Georgia., where he received his B.D. degree. Cecil served as state president of the Methodist Student Movement during his junior year, working with Wesley Foundation college student groups across Mississippi. This experience led to a continuing interest in students throughout his ministry. During his senior year, he established the Alta Woods U.M.C. in Jackson. Brother Cecil’s prime interest and emphasis has long been in peaching, personal evangelism, and church planting. He has planted three new churches in Mississippi. As a pastor-evangelist, Cecil has been much in demand to lead revivals across the U.S. . He has also preached in evangelistic campaigns on five continents and on five islands. He has been involved in the establishment of 175 plus churches in Nigeria, Ghana, and Zimbabwe and has helped establish more than 100 outreach congregations in Mindanao, Philippines. His associate, Reverend Doug Pepper, has recently helped start their first church in Siberia. Cecil has received the "Philip Award" for meritorious service in evangelism. Other recipients have been Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, Corrie ten Boom and others. He has also received the Denmam Award for excellence in evangelism by the Mississippi Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. In 1995, the Cecil Williamson Ministry established Global Health Resources, a medical division, to help equip Christian mission hospitals and clinics in developing nations. In 1998, GHHR shipped equipment and supplies to thirty different countries of the world. Already this year they have made twenty-eight shipments. Cecil is married to the former Norma Goff of Moss Point and they have four children. Norma published the book, Please Get Off the Seesaw Slowly, in 1975. Cecil has been a personal friend of mine and brother in Christ for over thirty years. He has been a very positive influence upon me in my journey with Christ. He has always been a source of constant encouragement to me. Our revival is Nov. 7-9, 1999. He will speak six times: Sunday at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. On Monday and Tuesday, November 8& 9, he will speak at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Please be in prayer for our revival as we lift it up to our Lord; participate, invite and bring others.
Seeking His Truth,
John H. Staggs

MYF ReportDear Church Family, Thanks for joining us last Sunday for dinner. Your support of our youth is terrific. We are looking at several service projects. One has been brought to my attention, and that is painting the children’s chairs in the Sunday School rooms to brighten them up. If you have seen any other projects around the church that the youth could do, please let me know, and I will bring it before the trustees for approval. Thank you for your continued love and support. J.D. & Lynn McCafferty The children’s MYF will be sponsoring a "penny harvest" for eight weeks, beginning Sunday, October 3rd. Please bring all of your lonely little pennies and put in the jar in the narthex. The money will be used to support at least one child from our "Angel Tree" this holiday season. Reverend Carrubba is the Vice-President of the Mississippi Chapter of the International Thomas Merton Society. He was very instrumental in the establishment of a Salvation Army Post here in Eupora. Church Library Effective today Christy Staggs will be our church librarian. This summer we have been working on improving and updating the church library. If you have any books you would like to donate to the church library, please bring them by the church office. If you would like to contribute towards the church library in honor or in memory of someone, please contact the church office. We would like to consistently add books to the library that most people could and would benefit from. The library itself is a wonderful opportunity of ministry, mission, education, and spiritual nurture. I believe reading is one of the best personal disciplines anyone can have. It is open from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday-Friday, plus every Sunday morning. Please utilize your church library! Thanks to Dan Burchfield for being our Head Greeter. He will be asking people to serve as the Greeter before the morning worship each Sunday in the Narthex. Thanks to Dan and those he asks to serve for being the person who formally greets each worshiper, especially our visitors. This person will help our visitors feel especially welcome, help them to their seat, and show them where the nursery is, if it is needed.
If you have an e-mail address, please share it with us at FUMC. Send it to < This would help us so much in communicating with you. Please turn in the mailing addresses of all our college students to the church office.
